Many of you have been making contact to find out when this years’ Mushroom tours will start.
The tours are usually held in mid Autumn when it’s cold and chilly, on weekends. This year we’ve had lots of rain and some early frosts. I think the bush fire smoke we experienced over summer may have also stimulated an early flush.
The mushrooms decide when they are available and this depends on either how hot and dry or how wet the summer is.
Climate change is having a major effect on the mushroom season; for example, last year the first flush of the season was a whole month later than previous years and ended a whole month earlier because the summer was so hot and dry and the winter was equally warm and dry.
Then there is the 3 to 4 year mushroom cycle, this year being the first of the 3 good years. We can chat about this on the next tour.
For this 2020 season we were planning a some great weekend foraging tours. We even bought a 4WD and lots of new gear to make the tours even better.
Then COVID19 came along and we all went into lockdown.
We are currently trying to work out how to host the tours safely and effectively. We will give private tours a go and consider if small groups are financially viable.

When the planets and government policy align, and the dates are set, we will post the tour dates at our pages on Twitter, Facebook, Tumbler, Instagram, on the next page at ReadesWeeds.com and on the Sticky Tickets website.
Please keep an eye on the social media pages and this site for updates.
